On June 6, we were asked by Emergency Management to assist with the efforts to put out the wildfires in NE North Carolina. NC Baptist Men Disaster Relief volunteers were asked to provide support for the firefighters and the team at Mattamuskeet School in Hyde County. On June 20, the operation at Mattamuskeet School was closed and the laundry unit was moved to Northside High School in Hyde County to assist the Forest Service firefighters who are working out of that location. We are also cooking at Northside High School.

NCBM had 3 shower units, our command unit, 4 generator units our water tanker unit and a cook team on site.

We also had our laundry unit on site.
Between June 8 and July 23, there were 674 volunteer days provided by NC Baptist teams. We have also provided 38,500 meals, 1,922 showers and washed 1,708 laundry loads. The operation will close July 29, 2008.
