Philippines Disaster Relief Update

December 26, 2013: The final team returned home today from their work in the Tacloban area of the Philippines.  Medical teams have been assisting the needy.  Tarps were given out to typhoon survivors.  Water Purification was provided in two forms: bulk distribution and family sized units.  Over 100 recipients of the family units were trained in proper usage of a device that should last up to 1 year.

December 11: Team 3 departs today to provide medical assistance and water purification to Typhoon Haiyan survivors in Tacloban.  The eight member team will serve for 2 weeks.  So far, NCBM Disaster Relief teams have had over 1,500 patient visits and purified 8,500 gallons of water. Continue to pray for the team!  Click here for pictures on Facebook.

December 4:  Team 2 arrived safely and is already at work assisting the sick and providing clean water for Bethany Hospital and the general public.  We will be looking at additional opportunities to assist Typhoon Haiyan survivors.  We are planning on a Team 3. Pray for these individuals since their time of service will be over Christmas.

November 27: Medical and Water Purification continues in Tacloban.  Team 2 departs this weekend to replace Team 1 mid-week to continue the relief efforts. Click here for pictures on Facebook.

November 25: The medical team is serving approximately 80 people per day at an evacuation center at a local school.  More than 150 familes are currently located in the center.

Water Purification team members are making approximately 1,000 gallons/day of potable water serving those in need.

Team 2 is scheduled for departure on the weekend of Nov. 30 to continue the efforts.

Please pray for the survivors that they will recieve the help they need to begin recovering from this record breaking storm.

Nov. 22

A medical and water purification team arrived in Tacloban on Nov. 22 to work at Bethany Hospital.  The team of 8 will assist with relief efforts and also assess our future involvement in this effort.

Medicine and water purification equipment has been purchased in order to provide much needed assistance.  Over 100 personal/family water purifiers are targeted for distribution.

Please pray for those affected to receive the help they need. Pray also for the team that they may be effective in their service in both word and deed. Pray that the team and all of the equipment arrive safely.
