NCBM Disaster Relief has been asked to setup a Recovery operation in Walker, LA. We’ve been told that approximately 450 homes have been affected.
We will have leadership in place Sunday morning (Sept. 9) and a recovery team will be on the way. In addition, we plan to send the NCBM Disaster Recovery Unit to provide tools and support for the operation. Additional support equipment and teams will be assigned as determined based on need (shower, laundry, etc.)
At this time, we anticipate doing mudout/tearout and roofing (installing tarps). Both skilled and unskilled volunteers are needed. If you can organize a team to participate or want to go as an individual, please register at http://baptistsonmission.org/Projects/Type/Disaster-Relief/Hurricane-Isaac/Get-Involved
. After you register, you will receive additional information regarding participation and logistics as soon as we are able to do so. Currently, we do not know how long we will be serving in LA.
If your church or group has a Disaster Recovery Unit, please consider taking it. The additional tools and support will be helpful.
Thank you for serving the Lord through NCBM Disaster Relief.
Money will be needed to provide assistance to Isaac survivors including the purchase of building materials to help people rebuild. A Hurricane Isaac Disaster Relief Reserve fund has been set up. 100% of what you give will be used in these disaster relief and rebuilding efforts.
