2009 Mission Involvement

AGRICULTURE MISSIONS

  • 53 attended Mission Garden session in Charlotte resulting in an unconfirmed number of garden projects for those in need
  • Several churches have begun various forms of garden projects.

AVIATION MINISTRY

  • 307 NC Volunteer Mission Flights
  • 290 Active Pilots/Volunteers
  • 500 Passengers Served
  • $256,000 in Public Benefit
  • Approximately 250 Young Eagle Flights for children in missions’ organizations
  • Various mission support flights for other ministries

BAPTIST EDUCATORS

  • Currently there are 681 members of the Fellowship of Baptist Educators with 15 new members from North Carolina
  • Universal Pen Pals program is using more email than paper correspondence
  • North Carolina sent over three (3) tons of Bibles and other Christian books to Book-Link for shipment to missionaries, national pastors and schools in the Nigerian Baptist Convention.
  • Members from North Carolina taught in Belize, China, India, Kenya, Malaysia, Philippines, and Thailand.

CHURCH RENEWAL

  • 44 Renewal Weekends completed
  • 964 NC team members participated in Renewal
  • 2,017 total decisions made including 61 salvations and 414 rededications

CORRECTIONAL MINISTRY

  • 67 boys with a parent in prison attended Camp Angel Tree at Camp Caraway as a result of scholarships & transportation provided by Baptists

DISASTER RELIEF RESPONSE/BAPTIST BUILDERS

    VOLUNTEERS: medical professionals – 1,368; lay workers – 1,695; translators - 174; pastors/counselors - 230; Buses in use 277 days, traveling 29,822 miles.

SPORTS & RECREATION

  • 82 participated in the annual April NCBM Golf Tournament

STUDENT MINISTRY

  • 1,575 participants in Deep Impact Mission Camps this summer; 127 professions of faith
  • 184 Deep Impact Mission Projects
  • 415 participants in the Youth Missions Conference in March
  • 2,085 youth & adults participated in Church Day Program and games at Wake Forest University
  • 363 youth & adults attend Church Night with the Durham Bulls
  • 536 participants in Youth Mission Weekends at Caswell

CAMPS MISSIONS

  • 611 boys attended Camp Caraway this summer
  • $1,444.63 was collected for missions
  • 33 participated in a week of Christian High Adventure
  • World Missions Week at Caswell

ROYAL AMBASSADORS

  • 466 participated in the State RA Race in Salisbury
  • 144 participated in the state RA/Challengers Track Meet
  • 244 participated in Father/Son Overnight camps
  • 142 campers for Lad/Crusader Camporee

REGIONAL RALLIES

  • 2,181 participants in NC Missions Celebrations
  • 1,684 participants in Spring Missions rallies

MEN’S MINISTRY

  • 316 participants in Men’s Ministry Worship Rallies
  • 124 participants in Men’s Ministry Outdoor Weekend
  • 59 Men’s Ministry leaders training in two state sessions
